Hello, my name is Brian and I’m the artist and creator behind Layered from Zero. 

I graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in art and architecture and continue to live and work in the Ann Arbor area. My artistic interests predominantly lie in the mediums of wood, aluminum, and plastic, although I have experimented with other mediums using techniques gathered from traveling abroad. 

My artistic philosophy goes something like this: Everything beautiful and functional starts from nothing—from zero. From there, inspiration, trial and error, exploration, and experience are all layered together to create a final piece. For me, this process is elemental in art and design’s powers to continually connect, communicate, and evoke emotion. 

I strive to communicate beauty and passion in everything I make. I want my designs to not only inspire feelings of admiration and enjoyment but also to enhance an experience.
